Life is like an Emotional Rollercoaster...
Hey there world! How is life treating you? Hopefully your life is a little more stable than my emotional rollercoaster right now... I feel like everything right now is an uphill battle, gotta love studying abroad! I had to change the dates of my return flight home because the people at my program told me the wrong end date originally, and two weeks later I finally secured the flight home on the date that I wanted. I was sick last weekend with a really bad stomach-ache and a low-grade fever, and was stuck inside during a beautiful sunny weekend. Tuesday it seemed like everything was going bad (Becki and the terrible, horrible, no good, very bad day), so I decided to skip my Portuguese class (that I hadn't missed yet) to take a personal day at the beach to try to improve my attitude. I took the bus to where the beach looked pretty, got off and started walking down the beach. It was a very good, relaxing rest of the day, and I got a little sun-burnt. Thursday I had a nervous-breakdown at the travel agency because they couldn't help me at all, so later on in the day when I got my cell phone stolen out of my back-pack I was pretty apathetic. That means that I no longer have a cell phone here, so don't try to call the number that I posted on here last time. I'm guessing because the program is half over (3 months down, 3 to go), I am feeling the next set of whirlwind emotions. Wanting to go home because I am missing a lot of things there (especially my boyfriend), but there are a lot of things here that I still want to do before I go home. My family is really nice, but they have been getting on my nerves a lot this week because they are so intense. I have lived by myself for a long time at home, so it is really difficult for me to get used to being around other people and interacting 24/7. They can't be in the same room without talking in 3 conversations at the same time! Ah, it makes my head spin sometimes! Oh well, I went to a Bob Marley tribute concert last night, so that helped to calm me down a bit. There were 4 brazilian reggae bands playing Bob Marley and their own reggae songs. Everyone was dancing and just chilling. It started raining a few different times, so it was a lot of fun dancing in the rain. As soon as the first drops were felt, the Brazilians all headed for cover under the tents (they have a strange phobia of getting wet from the rain even though they take atleast 3 showers a day...), and the foreigners were all dancing out in the rain. After a couple songs some of the brave Brazilians came out to dance in the rain too! It was so much fun! This week is Semana Santa (Holy Week) because of Easter, so Thursday through Sunday is a holiday. I don't have classes on Thursday, and my house is going to get bombed for bugs. So that means I either have to travel over the holiday or stay with a friend of my mom's. I guess we'll see what happens. I'm going to get going because I still have a lot to read for my Race class tomorrow. Take care everyone!
